Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning “Universal Life Energy.” It was developed in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, who sought a spiritual method of healing that did not rely on physical tools or manipulation.
Reiki works on the idea that there is a subtle energy flowing through all living beings. When this energy is low or blocked, we are more likely to fall ill or feel stressed. By gently channeling this energy through the hands, Reiki helps to clear blockages, restore flow, and activate the body's natural healing abilities
During a Reiki session, the practitioner lightly places their hands on or just above the body in a series of positions. The recipient remains fully clothed and typically lies on a massage table or sits comfortably in a chair. There is no massage or manipulation — only stillness, intention, and energy transfer.
